Two suspects linked to the murder of a teacher in Nyamira were Thursday detained by a court for five days.
The teacher, Ezekiel Gitangwa’s mutilated body was found at Egesieri village in Nyamira County on January 2, three days after his family reported him missing.
The motive of Gitangwa, 47 is yet to be known.
Investigations have not linked the two directly to the murder of the teacher.
Gilbert Kingara and Moses Moriasi were arrested on Wednesday after it emerged that they received money sent from the slain teacher’s mobile money wallet under unclear circumstances.
They will be detained for five more days to allow police to conclude investigations into the murder of the teacher.
The two were produced in court under a miscellaneous application and the court allowed police to detain them to help in the probe.
The case will be mentioned on January 17, 2022.
Police believe the two have information on the circumstances that might have led to the death of the deceased because they received money sent through the deceased’s phone on the same day that the deceased is alleged to have disappeared.
A woman whose house where the body was found is yet to be arrested.
A hunt on her and possible accomplices is ongoing amid reports she is hiding in Nairobi.
The teacher was slated to be buried on January 13.
