Two people were separately electrocuted in Homa Bay and Busia Counties, police said.
In Homa Bay County police said they were investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman who was electrocuted while performing household chores in Oridi Village.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2026.
The Eunice Adhiambo, was reportedly washing clothes and went to hang them on a clothesline attached to her main house when she came into contact with an electrified section, resulting in fatal burns to her hands and neck.
The body was later moved to Ndhiwa Sub-County Hospital Morgue for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
Elsewhere, a 26-year-old man tragically died after being electrocuted while working at a car wash in Busia County on Thursday evening.
The deceased, identified as Shadrack Oduor, was reportedly operating a car wash machine when a short circuit occurred, causing fatal electrocution.
His brother, Bernard Wandera, reported the incident to authorities.
Oduor was rushed to Siport Sub-County Hospital, but efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the facility.
The body was later transferred to Nangina Mission Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.
Such incidents have been on the rise and are blamed on illegal power connections and use of quacks in wiring.
There is a campaign ongoing to address the menace.
Elsewhere, police in Kajiado County are investigating the death of a 47-year-old shop owner whose body was discovered in a river in Nkama.
According to a report from Illasit Police Station, the incident began on March 12, 2026, at around 6:00 p.m., when Grace Mungari, who owned a shop in Nkama (Map Reference CG 349496, approximately 6 km southeast of the police station), went missing.
Villagers launched a search but called it off at 9:00 p.m., planning to resume the following morning.
Later that evening, a neighbor of Mungari, reported that her husband, Raymond Wanaina Kamure, had returned home barefoot carrying a wheelbarrow stained with blood.
Fearing for her safety, she left him in the house and alerted authorities.
Police, led by Chief Kapaito and with the help of community members, visited Raymond Wanaina’s home but neither he nor the wheelbarrow could be located.
Further investigations led officers to Mawenzi Polytechnic, where blood stains were discovered on the door of a store for which Raymond Wanaina was the key custodian.
Peering inside, police found blood throughout the store.
At around 3:30 a.m. on March 13, 2026, the body of Grace Mungari was recovered from a river in Nkama.
Investigations are ongoing as police work to trace the suspect and determine the full circumstances surrounding the death.
