Maureen Achieng’ Nyadida-Lukoye, the late wife of Prof Lukoye Atwoli, will be cremated on Thursday, September 17.
According to the family, a funeral service will be held at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi at noon before the cremation.
Maureen was the daughter-in-law of COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli and a mother of four sons, Alubala, Anyanje, Yimbo and Junior.
She was born to Samwel Nyadida-Yimbo and the late Elizabeth Atieno Oure. In the funeral announcement, her family described her as a devoted wife and loving mother.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, September 19, at the family home in Mulwanda Sub-location, Khwisero Constituency, Kakamega.
Her death was announced by Lukoye on Tuesday in an emotional message.

“I will struggle to deal with this. So long, my dear. So long,” he wrote.
A family member confirmed that Maureen had been battling cancer for approximately four years. She had previously spoken publicly about her experience with the illness and the support she received from her husband throughout her treatment.
Lukoye, Francis Atwoli’s firstborn son, is a medical professional and academic. The couple largely kept their family life private, although they occasionally shared moments from their lives during celebrations and anniversaries.
Friends, colleagues and members of the public have since sent messages of condolence following Maureen’s death.
The family cited 2 Timothy 4:7 in announcing the funeral arrangements: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
