Two people died and six others sustained injuries following a road accident involving a bus and a stationary truck along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway in Mgalani area.
The crash occurred at about 5am on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
According to police, the driver was driving a Zhongtong bus belonging to Dreamline Bus Company towards Mombasa when it collided with a stationary MAN truck belonging to Liberty ICD Ltd.
Police said the truck driver was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and had allegedly failed to place warning signs or lifesavers around the stationary vehicle.
An unidentified male adult died at the scene, while another passenger died while being rushed to Samburu Sub-County Hospital.
Six other fare-paying passengers were injured in the crash.
The injured passengers were taken to Samburu Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
Police officers visited and processed the scene, while the bodies were being transferred to Coast General Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
Both vehicles were being towed to the police station pending inspection as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
And a passenger train was involved in a collision with a truck at the Aviation level crossing in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon, with no injuries reported.
The incident occurred when DMU locomotive, travelling from Embakasi towards Nairobi Central Railway Station, collided with the side of a white Sinotruk lorry.
According to police, the truck was being driven across the railway line when it was struck by the train. The driver, whose identity was not immediately established, fled the scene shortly after the collision.
The locomotive sustained slight damage on its right side, while the truck was extensively damaged, particularly around the front bumper and windscreen.
No injuries were reported among the train occupants or other people at the scene.
The damaged truck was towed to the Embakasi Railways Yard as police and railway authorities began investigations into the circumstances of the collision.
