At least two medical officers were Tuesday shot dead by bandits in Kerio Valley.
This is despite the ongoing military-backed security operation.
The attack sparked protests and anger with
Elgeyo Marakwet Wisley Rotich threatened to arm his people for protection.
“We shall start arming our people from Monday if the KDF and the police will not act by then. It is Enough!”
“We just lost two people today including our medical Laboratory staff to Pokot bandits pushing the numbers in the mortuary to 5 people in 4 days,” said Rotich.
A female nurse at Endo mission hospital was killed on his way to work while a lab technician who was taking care of his animals was shot dead at Arror, police said.
Panic has gripped the region following the latest attacks.
Marakwet West OCPD Bosita Omulongolo confirmed the attack that led to the killing of the lab technician.
The area is among those under curfew and operation by both police and military.
The bandits have been striking despite the curfew and operation.
Police say up to 50 guns have been recovered in the three weeks operation.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in banditry-prone areas as he declared them disturbed and dangerous.
The 30 days curfew began on February 14, 2023, but it seems it is not detecting the attacks.
Kindiki said some areas in counties including Turkana, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, Laikipia, and Samburu will be affected.
