Two-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Found Trapped In Balcony Grills In Tassia, Nairobi

A two-year-old girl died after she was found trapped between balcony grills at a residential premises in Tassia, Embakasi, Nairobi.

The incident was reported to Embakasi Police Station at about 6:37pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026, after a neighbour found the child unconscious.

The neighbour handed the girl to her aunt who rushed her to Bristol Park Hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers from Embakasi Police Station, accompanied by detectives from the DCI Embakasi, visited the scene and later proceeded to the hospital, where they found the child’s body.

Crime Scene Investigation officers processed and documented the scene before the body was transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary for preservation pending further investigations and determination of the circumstances surrounding her death.

Police have commenced investigations into the incident, which was initially recorded as a suspected murder case.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old Grade 9 pupil has been found dead under circumstances suspected to be murder in Benane, Lagdera Sub County, Garissa County.

The deceased, was a pupil at Benane Junior School, was reportedly found at Kambi Samaki near the Benane junction grazing field on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Police at Benane Police Station were notified of the incident at about 4:30pm and officers visited the scene.

However, upon arrival, the officers found that members of the public had already moved the body from the scene for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death were yet to be established, with investigations expected to determine whether he was murdered and identify those responsible.

The incident has heightened tensions between two communities living along the Garissa-Isiolo county border, with police monitoring the situation to prevent possible retaliatory attacks.

Authorities are expected to investigate the death and establish what happened before the body was moved from the scene
