Uhuru Kenyatta’s Office Warns Public About Fake Social Media Accounts

The office of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned Kenyans against fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the former Head of State, his wife and their children.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, spokesperson Kanze Dena clarified that the Office of the Fourth President maintains only two official social media accounts, one on Facebook and another on X.

Dena said the verified platforms operate under the names Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya on Facebook and Office of the 4th President of Kenya on X.

She emphasised that the two accounts are the only authorised channels for official communication from Uhuru’s office.

“The Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, wishes to inform the general public that the office operates only two official social media accounts,” the statement read in part.

Dena further clarified that Uhuru, his wife Margaret Kenyatta and their children do not maintain personal social media accounts.

She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and ignore any other accounts, pages or profiles claiming to represent the former President or his family.

The spokesperson warned Kenyans against relying on information published through unauthorised platforms purporting to speak on behalf of Uhuru, Margaret or their children.

The latest advisory follows an earlier incident in August when Dena dismissed claims that Uhuru had declined a meeting with Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 12, Dena described as fake a letter attributed to her office that claimed Uhuru had received and rejected several requests for a meeting with Gachagua.

The office disowned the document, warning against the circulation of misleading information falsely attributed to the retired President’s administration.
