The suspects Jacob Okeyo Omollo, Baraka Odhiambo Jude, Monica Atieno, David Ochieng, Arnoder Atieno, Kennedy Ouma Otieno, and Pamela Onyango Otieno were apprehended after Sunday’s body was found beaten, stripped, and bound at Dalawa Hotel and Restaurant.
The victim, Paul Sunday, was discovered tied up inside the restaurant, with ropes binding his hands and legs to metal bars behind the counter.
A Homa Bay County Enforcement Officer alerted the police after visiting the establishment and witnessing the disturbing scene.
“At around 1:30 p.m., an Enforcement Officer from Homa Bay County visited Dalawa Hotel and found a commotion.
He discovered Paul Sunday, a student from Tom Mboya University, naked and tied with ropes inside the counter area,” a police report explained.
“Upon arrival, police confirmed that the student was indeed restrained and had multiple injuries.”
The victim was bleeding heavily from his wounds, and despite being rushed to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital, he later died from his injuries.
The police have preserved his body in the hospital morgue, awaiting an autopsy.
The seven employees remain in custody, and police are continuing their investigation.
They are expected to be formally charged on Monday as the authorities work to determine the motive behind the tragic incident.
