US Intelligence Confirms Iran Hacked Trump’s Campaign

US intelligence officials have confirmed that Iran was responsible for the recent hacking of Donald Trump‘s presidential campaign.

According to a joint statement from the FBI and other federal agencies, Iran’s objective was to foster discord and undermine confidence in US democratic institutions.

On August 10, Trump campaign officials initially accused Iran of breaching their internal communications, although Iranian officials have denied any involvement.

Sources familiar with the investigation, as reported by CBS News, suggest that the same Iranian hackers may have also targeted the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

US intelligence officials have revealed that the hackers used social engineering and other techniques to access information from individuals affiliated with both major presidential campaigns.

They stressed that such hacking and extortion activities are part of a larger effort to influence the US electoral process.

The exact extent of the information stolen remains uncertain, but Trump has claimed that the hackers only accessed data that was already publicly available.
