According to the chief medical officer at the Austin Medical Center, tragedy struck on Tuesday evening when a vehicle crashed into the emergency room, leaving one person dead and at least five others injured.
The crash, which happened around 5:30 p.m., led to the death of one individual in the car.
Despite efforts to save them with CPR, they succumbed to their injuries at the scene, as reported by Thayer Smith from the Austin Fire Department.
Among the injured were four individuals who had to be transported to other hospitals, including an adult and a child in critical condition.

Capt. Christa Stedman from the Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services described the child’s injuries as life-threatening, while the adult’s condition was potentially life-threatening.
One of the patients injured in the crash was admitted to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center, where the incident occurred in the ER lobby, according to Chief Medical Officer Peter DeYoung.
Initially, Austin-Travis County EMS officials indicated in a Facebook post that at least 11 people were injured in the crash.
Additionally, eight patients who were present at the hospital but unaffected by the vehicle collision were transferred to other hospitals, as mentioned by DeYoung.
Stephen Hughes, who was at the hospital waiting for his wife’s surgery, recounted hearing a loud bang followed by chaos as he realized a vehicle had crashed into the emergency room.
“At first I thought it was an explosion,” Hughes told CNN.
“Then I heard screaming and saw the smoke coming from the ER entrance.”
Videos captured the frantic scene, with people fleeing through the emergency room lobby as the vehicle’s tires screeched.
Hughes described how the area was swiftly cleared, and hospital staff promptly attended to the injured.
