Woman Arrested After Husband Dies Following Assault In Murang’a

Police in Mathioya, Murang’a County, have arrested a 42-year-old woman suspected of fatally assaulting her husband following a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 24, 2026, at around 7pm at a residential plot in the area.

The body of Patrick Mwangi Gikure, 48 was found lying outside his house with a bleeding head injury.

Police officers responded to the scene and established that Mwangi had sustained injuries during a physical confrontation with his wife.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the couple had earlier quarrelled before the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation.

Police suspect that the deceased was struck with a metal bar during the altercation.

The woman was arrested and taken to Kiriaini Police Station, where she was booked pending further investigations and possible charging with murder.

Police processed the scene before the body was moved to Kiriaini Mission Hospital Mortuary, where it was preserved awaiting a postmortem examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.

And a 25-year-old man was found dead in Masingo Stream in Sichirai Sub-Location, Kakamega Central Sub-County.

The incident was reported at Kakamega Police Station at about 6:42pm on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body of an adult male.

The deceased was identified as Brian Were, a resident of Masingo village.

Police processed and documented the scene before the body was removed and taken to the Kakamega County General Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death are ongoing.
