Woman Found Dead in Suspected Domestic Killing in Baringo


Police in Baringo County launched a manhunt for a suspect following the death of a 36-year-old woman in what is believed to be a domestic violence-related killing in Kolowa Sub-County.

Police ho responded to the scene, found the body of Cheposetem Polis lying outside her house with visible injuries on her back.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had returned home the previous night at around 9:00 p.m. in the company of her husband and that both were allegedly intoxicated at the time.

Police suspect the husband may have assaulted her, leading to her death. He is currently at large.

An axe believed to have been used in the attack was recovered within the compound and secured as an exhibit. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers processed and documented the scene.

The body was moved to Kabarnet Referral Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.

Police said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect as investigations into the incident continue.

Meanwhile, two people died in separate incidents of electrocution.

The  incidents were reported in Machakos and Kakamega, police said.

Two other drowning incidents were reported in Makueni and Muranga Counties, police said as they moved the bodies to the mortuary for autopsy.

Dozens of people have died in similar such incidents in a worrying trend in the country in the past four months.
