Woman Kills Her Mother And Daughter, Injures Boyfriend Before Dying by Suicide in Siaya

Police are investigating an incident in which a 30-year-old woman allegedly killed her daughter and mother in Siaya County’s Bondo sub-county.

The woman later died by suicide in the macabre incident, police said.

But before she took her own life, she also seriously injured her boyfriend as he tried to intervene at their Nyangera Kambajo village.

The incident happened on Tuesday, June 6 night and saw the woman, identified as Macrine Atieno kill her 10-year-old daughter and her mother, Perez Anyango, 60, before going to her boyfriend’s house and attacking and seriously injuring him.

She then returned home and hanged herself, police said.

Atieno is suspected of having disagreements with her 35-year-old boyfriend Kennedy Onyango, according to Usire sub-location Assistant Chief Austin Bunde.

Atieno’s neighbors discovered her body hanging from a tree in her paternal home and went inside to inform her mother, only to find her lifeless body lying in a pool of blood alongside her granddaughter, who had several stab wounds.

It was later discovered that the boyfriend, who lives on the same property, was also in critical condition as a result of the alleged attack.

The police were then called to the scene, where they removed the bodies to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

The boyfriend is receiving treatment in the same facility.
Police say they are investigating the incident.
