A woman stabbed and killed her two-year-old son following a domestic in Eldoret Town.
The woman identified as Cristabel Chebet also critically injured her six-year-old daughter during a rage over a domestic quarrel.
She also unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide by stabbing herself but was rescued by neighbors on Monday, police said.
Police said the incident happened at Generations estate in Eldoret.
The woman had returned from her rural home Monday and quarreled with her husband before she took a knife and attacked the children.
Police arrived at the scene and took the body of the deceased to the morgue while the injured child was admitted at Moi Referral Hospital.
Chebet told journalists at the scene that she was distressed by family issues and did not have an intention to kill her children though she was overwhelmed by anger as she asked for forgiveness from everyone and God.
” I have been problems but no one wanted to listen to me. I have done this out of extreme anger and plead for forgiveness,” she said.
The woman said her husband liked her younger child more than the girl whom she sired from an earlier relationship.
She said after getting angry she made a decision to die with all her children instead of suffering with no help.
Neighbors said the woman complained that she was tired of suffering in life and yet no one helped her out.
Turbo Sub-county OCPD Edward Masibo confirmed the incident and said investigations were going on.
Her injured child was admitted to the hospital in stable but serious condition.
