Police in Murang’a County have launched investigations into the death of a 20-year-old man whose body was found by the roadside along the Kenol-Sagana Highway.
The deceased, identified as Oscar Njoroge Karanja, was found dead on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026, at the Mlima Swara area in Kimorori Location, Murang’a South Sub-County.
Police said the body was discovered at around 8am by the deceased’s father who was travelling in a tuk-tuk from Kenol towards Makuyu.
The witness told police he noticed a man lying motionless beside the road and stopped to establish what had happened.
He then identified the deceased as his son after noticing that he was wearing a black jacket similar to one his son had worn the previous day.
Police visited the scene and established that the deceased had sustained a deep cut on the left side of his head near the eye.
Blood was also observed oozing from his mouth and nose, while abrasions were noted on his right hand and the left side of his stomach.
A dismantled smartphone of an unknown make was also recovered at the scene and taken as part of the evidence.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was removed and taken to Maragua Level 4 Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding Njoroge’s death and identify those responsible.
The motive of the now murder was not immediately established, police said.
Meawhile, a two-year-old child died after a fire broke out in an apartment in the Kobil area of Embakasi, Nairobi, on Monday evening.
According to the apartment’s caretaker, she was alerted by one of the tenants who noticed smoke coming from a house on the first floor.
She reportedly rushed to the house, identified as House Number 104, where she found it filled with heavy smoke. She raised an alarm, prompting members of the public to respond.
Together with a Nairobi County Government fire engine, they managed to put out the fire.
However, the boy, aged two, was found fatally burned during the incident.
Household property of unknown value was also destroyed in the fire.
The cause of the fire had not been established by the time of reporting.
Crime Scene Investigation officers from Embakasi processed the scene as police commenced investigations into the incident.
The child’s body was removed and taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
