Wamatangi Unveils Sh25.1 Billion 2026/27 Budget


Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi assented to the Kiambu County Budget for the 2026/2027 Financial Year, totaling Sh25.1 billion, with Sh8.5 billion earmarked for development projects aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth across the county.

The roads sector received the largest development allocation of Sh4.5 billion to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity.

The health sector has been allocated Sh750 million to equip and operationalize new hospitals, while agriculture will receive Sh816 million to strengthen food security and improve farmers’ incomes.

The education sector has been allocated Sh667 million to support the expansion of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres and youth empowerment programmes.

The budget also prioritizes support for trade and enterprise development to create employment opportunities and stimulate the local economy.

In addition, the county government has committed significant resources towards expanding water connectivity to ensure more households have access to clean and reliable water.

Wamatangi said the 2026/2027 budget reflects his administration’s commitment to delivering transformative, people-centred development through strategic investments in infrastructure,
healthcare, education, agriculture, trade, and water services, with the goal of improving the quality of life for all residents of Kiambu County.
