The Kenya National Fire Brigade Association (KENFIBA) wants youth to enlist as volunteer fire fighters
Three children were on Tuesday night burned to death inside their father’s house in Kangundo, Machakos County.
Police and neighbors link the incident to a land row involving the polygamous family.
Neighbors told police the father has been in conflict with one of his two wives and has been pushing her to move out of the homestead.
The family had a meeting last Saturday, where the woman was given the notice to move out.
The husband had allegedly hired goons to evict her forcefully, threatening to demolish her house.
Some of the locals opposed the move until the latest when unknown people torched three of the man’s houses, including the one the children who are aged less than ten were sleeping.
Kangundo police boss Zacharia Bitok said investigations are underway to get those behind the incident.
The bodies of the three were moved to the Kangundo Hospital mortuary.
He said the land row link is part of the theories they are pursuing.
