A motorist died after his salon car plunged from the second floor of a parking lot in Nairobi’s Parklands area.
Victor Mochama, 33 had parked his Volkswagen Jetta car on the second-floor parking lot at the Diamond Plaza Two and left for errands on January 9 at 1 am.
He returned minutes later and ignited the car ready to leave but lost its control as he accidentally accelerated and drove through the rail guards.
The car nose-dived and crashed on the ground floor parking of the structure.
Police and witnesses said he died on the spot out of the crushing impact.
Police visited the scene and removed the body to the mortuary pending further investigation.
The badly damaged car was towed to the local police station.
Along Waiyaki Way, a pedestrian was killed by a speeding car.
The car did not stop after the incident and efforts to trace it are ongoing.
