4 KDF soldiers Killed In Accident On Marsabit-Isiolo Highway


Four Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers died after a vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a road accident in Marsabit on Tuesday, June 27 morning.

Witnesses said a vehicle they were traveling in rolled on the Marsabit-Isiolo highway.

Six others escaped with injuries following the accident that happened when the Land Cruiser overturned in Karare area, police and witnesses said.

The injured were rushed to hospital in serious condition.

According to police and witnesses, the vehicle’s driver lost control and rolled off the road killing three soldiers on the spot.

The fourth victim died at the Marsabit hospital where he was rushed together with six others.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Marsabit Referral Hospital Kussu Abduba said the six other soldiers sustained injuries in the accident.

There was an accident involving a military vehicle today morning, four victims passed on in the process and six officers sustained injuries. Our doctors managed to treat the officers and I can comfortably say the situation has been managed,” Abduba said.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Marsabit referral hospital mortuary.

Police said they are investigating the accident.

Cases of fatal accidents have been on the rise in the country amid a campaign to address the menace.

This has left many others in hospitals and others maimed.
