Police are hunting for a gang of six that attacked a Mpesa attendant in Makuyu Town, Murangá County, and robbed her of Sh100,000 and a mobile phone.
The mobile phone had a float of Sh60,000 as the incident happened on May 16 at about 8 pm.
Police said the gang accosted the woman as she walked to her house and at gunpoint demanded the cash and mobile phone.
She complied and as the gang left, they fired once into the air.
They escaped on foot.
This was the latest such incident to happen in the area in a series that have been reported in the past days which have seen motorists, pedestrians, and residents in general attacked and robbed.
Police say they have deployed more personnel to address the menace.
No arrests made so far, police said.
Elsewhere in Kakamega, thugs raided Hadow Secondary School in the Marakusi sub-location and attacked the two watchmen.
They broke into the school offices and kitchen where they stole one electric guitar, a public address mixer, and Sh6,000.
The injured guards were taken to a local hospital where they were admitted in stable condition.
In Kitale Town, one George Mukwana reported that he left Grassland bar and boarded his friend’s car, and proceeded to a garage behind Pazuri Hotel where he was attacked by a group of ten young men and was robbed of Sh312,000 which was in his trouser pockets.
Police say they are investigating the incident.
