Naivas Supermarket has firmly denied recent allegations circulating on social media regarding the sale of expired products and the purported closure of some of its Nairobi outlets by health authorities.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the retailer described the claims as “false, misleading, and potentially harmful,” emphasizing that none of its branches have been shut down and no expired goods have been found on its shelves.
“We would like to reassure our customers, partners, and the general public that no expired products have been found on our shelves,” the statement read.
“Naivas maintains stringent internal quality control and stock management systems across all our branches to ensure product safety and compliance with health regulations.”

The company added that all its stores are fully operational and continue to meet standards set by regulatory bodies including the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and the Ministry of Health.
Naivas also announced it is seeking legal counsel and may pursue formal action against individuals or entities behind what it termed a targeted campaign of misinformation.
“Naivas has a very strict anti-bribery and corruption policy and will not submit to extortionary tactics,” the statement concluded.
The supermarket chain, one of Kenya’s largest, urged the public to rely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding its operations.
