Suspect In GSU Officer’s Murder Detained For 14 Days Pending Probe

A Kibera court Tuesday allowed police to detain Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi for 14 days to enable further investigations into the killing of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer who was guarding State House Gate D in Nairobi.

Principal Magistrate Christine Njagi granted the custodial orders after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kilimani filed an application seeking more time to conclude the murder investigations.

According to Inspector Bashir Boya, the investigating officer, the suspect was arrested on October 13 along Dennis Pritt Road near State House Gate D, shortly after the incident.

The court heard that the suspect, who allegedly posed as a street dweller, had concealed a bow and arrows inside a blue sack.

He is accused of shooting Constable Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, a GSU officer manning a security barrier, injuring him on the left side of the chest.

The officer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment.
