18-Year-Old Dies After Falling From Tractor In Bomet


A family in Chepalungu Sub-County, Bomet County, is mourning the death of an 18-year-old man who succumbed to injuries after falling from a moving tractor while loading maize stacks.

The incident was reported on April 28, 2026 at Chebunyo Police Station, police said.

According to the police, the deceased, identified as Elijah Kibet, was injured on April 25, 2026 at around 3:00pm while assisting in transporting maize stacks.

He is said to have slipped while attempting to tie the load on a tractor, falling and sustaining severe head injuries.

He was initially rushed to Kap Charles Health Centre before being referred to Kapkatet Hospital due to the severity of his condition.

However, on April 26, 2026, while being transported to Kapkatet Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was later moved to Kapkatet mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Police have recorded the incident as an accidental death as investigations continue.

Elsewhere, a 21-year-old man died after being buried by a landslide while mining gold at an abandoned mining site in Pokot Central Sub-County, West Pokot County.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2026 at around 4:35pm.

Police said the victim, identified as Stevalo Julius, was engaged in informal mining activities when the ground suddenly caved in, burying him on the spot.

A rescue operation was launched, and the body was later retrieved from the rubble.

The remains were moved to Kapenguria Level IV Hospital mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.

Authorities have warned residents against using abandoned mining sites due to the high risk of collapses, especially during unstable weather conditions.

And police in Bumula Sub-County, Bungoma County, launched investigations into a suspected murder after a man’s body was discovered on a railway line in Muanda village.

Police visited the scene and confirmed the discovery of the lifeless body of an African male adult identified as Erick Wekesa Wakasala.

The body was found lying face down on the railway line with multiple injuries.

The deceased’s left leg had been severed and was located about two metres from the body along the railway track. The right leg had a deep cut wound, while an additional injury was noted on the forehead.

Preliminary investigations indicate the possibility that the deceased may have been killed elsewhere and the body later dumped on the railway line to simulate a train accident.

The scene was processed and documented, with photographs taken and blood samples collected for forensic analysis.

The body was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is awaiting postmortem examination as investigations continue.
