Nine People Arrested After Invading Coffee Farm In Kiambu

Nine suspects were arrested after police responded to a scene where a gang had invaded a private coffee farm in Thindigua and chased away workers on duty.

A gang of about 50 invaded All Season Coffee Farm while armed with pangas, bows and arrows and started placing beacons on it in the Wednesday incident.

In the process they went to the staff quarters and upon seeing the armed people the workers ran away leaving the thugs behind who gained entry into their houses by removing doors and took away 19 chicken, a mattress, clothes and other assorted household items of unknown value.

Police said they also vandalized the houses.

Police were alerted and responded, arresting the nine who had also come in a private car that was towed to the local station.

The car had four pangas, bows and arrows, two plastic chairs, three bags of cement, a carpet and other household items believed to have been stolen from houses of the workers. This is the latest such incident where goons invade private land in the area for forceful take over.

Police say they are investigating the reported cases.

Elsewhere, police in Ruai, Nairobi, launched investigations following the discovery of a body floating in Manyatta River.

According to the police, the incident was reported on April 29, 2026 and the discovery, however, had been made earlier in the morning at about 9:00 a.m. by a woman who was cultivating her farm along the riverbank.

The woman raised the alarm after spotting the body of an unidentified person floating in the water.

Police responded to the scene and confirmed the body to be that of a middle-aged adult male.

The deceased was not immediately identified by residents in the area.

Scene of Crime personnel documented and processed the area before the body was retrieved and moved to the City Mortuary, where it is awaiting postmortem examination.

And in a crackdown against narcotics trade, a coordinated operation by detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) and the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) led to the interception of cannabis sativa and the arrest of a trafficker.

Acting on a tip-off, the team of detectives intercepted a Daihatsu Mira as it cruised along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

The vehicle, which was en route from Busia to the capital, was brought to a halt for a thorough search.

The search yielded several bales of cannabis sativa.

The driver was immediately apprehended and his “consignment” seized before it could reach its destination.

In a separate operation at the border, officers based at Malaba Police Station disrupted another smuggling attempt.

Officers intercepted a 31-year-old Ugandan national, at the Posta area within Malaba.

The suspect drew the attention of officers while lugging a box and a briefcase that appeared conspicuously heavy for a regular traveler.

Upon a swift inspection, the team uncovered 17 meticulously wrapped bales of cannabis sativa.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the seized narcotics were destined for the streets of Nairobi, where they were to be broken down for wider distribution.

Police have increased operations targeting drug traffickers and consumers.

This has led to seizure of tones of narcotics in the past months.
