Police in Kandara Sub-County, Murang’a County, are investigating the death of a 50-year-old man whose body was found in Kabati Township after he reportedly failed to return home.
The deceased, identified as John Njuguna Gichuhi, had left his home in the Tosheka area at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, according to his wife.
She told police that after her husband failed to return home, she became concerned. On Sunday morning at around 8 a.m., she received information that a lifeless body believed to be that of her husband had been found in Kabati Township.
Police officers visited the scene to commence investigations.
According to the police report, the body was found lying face down and did not have any visible physical injuries.
Crime scene personnel documented the scene before the body was moved to General Kago Funeral Home in Thika, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police said investigations are ongoing as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
And police in Mathira East Sub-County, Nyeri County, are investigating a suspected murder following the death of a 73-year-old man who had earlier been treated for injuries after an alleged assault.
The incident was reported on May 31, 2026.
According to police, the deceased, identified as James Kinyua Wahome, a Kikuyu male adult aged 73, is said to have been assaulted during the night at an unknown time by a suspect identified as Patty Ngatia.
The victim was later found lying in a distressed condition at Gikumbo Shopping Centre and was taken to Karatina Level Four Hospital, where he was treated and discharged in stable condition.
Police reports indicate that after being discharged, the deceased was taken back home, where he later requested to rest outside his house within the compound.
He was subsequently found dead by family members.
Investigators observed visible injuries on the left side of the deceased’s head, along with blood stains on his clothes and hands, suggesting he may have succumbed to injuries sustained during the earlier
assault.
The body was moved to Karatina Level Four Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are pursuing the suspect named in connection with the assault.
And police in Chepalungu Sub-County, Bomet County, arrested a suspect linked to the murder of a man in Kapkesosio area earlier this month.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday at Kapkesosio Trading Centre following investigations into the killing of Zakayo Kiplangat Koech.
According to police, he had been adversely mentioned during investigations into the murder and was being sought by detectives.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the probe into the killing of Koech, whose death had sparked investigations by local police and DCI officers.
The case remains under investigation.
