The primary suspect in the recent murder at Shiners Boys High School has been apprehended.
The suspect, a Sudanese national identified as Dak, is accused of fatally stabbing a classmate in Nakuru County before fleeing to Nairobi.
According to Gilgil Sub-County Commander Winstone Mwakio, Dak traveled overnight to Nairobi shortly after the incident, but was later persuaded to return to the school, where he was arrested.
Upon his return to Shiners Boys High School, Dak was found in possession of several rolls of bhang, which were discovered in his jacket pocket.
Mwakio confirmed that the school’s principal played a pivotal role in Dak’s return, reaching out to him in Nairobi and urging him to come back to the school.
It is not yet clear what motivated the principal’s decision to contact Dak directly, but this intervention was crucial in securing his arrest.
Before the tragic stabbing, Dak had been a student at Woodley Secondary School in Kibra Sub-County.
However, he had been suspended from that school due to previous disciplinary issues, raising concerns about his behavior and the circumstances leading up to the violence.
In addition to Dak’s arrest, three individuals believed to be his accomplices have also been taken into custody.
These individuals are expected to provide key testimony in the investigation.
Police have handed over the case to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which is now handling the case.
Authorities are working to uncover the full details surrounding the motive for the stabbing, as well as the role of the suspect’s alleged accomplices.
The community remains shaken by the tragic incident, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
