Man Found Dead In House After Returning Home Intoxicated In Tharaka Nithi


Police in Maara Sub-County, Tharaka Nithi County, are investigating the death of a 27-year-old man who was found lifeless inside his house after reportedly returning home intoxicated.

The incident was reported at Magutuni Police Station on Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m.

Police visited the scene and found the body of Dickson Kenfrey Mutuma lying on a bed inside his mud-walled semi-permanent house.

Preliminary investigations established that the deceased, who lived alone, had returned home from a nearby market in the early hours of the morning while appearing drunk.

Family members later became concerned when he failed to wake up at his usual time.

One of his relatives went to check on him and, after receiving no response despite repeated knocks on the door, which was locked from the inside, alerted the area assistant chief.

Police found no visible physical injuries on the body, and there were no immediate signs of foul play.

The scene was processed by CSI officers before the body was removed to Chuka Level 5 Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

And police in Butula Sub-County, Busia County, are investigating the sudden death of a 43-year-old man who was found lifeless inside his brother’s house after reportedly arriving home heavily intoxicated.

The incident was reported on Tuesday at Mauko Village in Bulwani Sub-location, Marachi East Location.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Silas Dipondo, had arrived at his brother’s house on the evening of June 15 at around 7:30 p.m. while appearing extremely drunk.

Family members reportedly attempted to give him food, but he was unable to eat.

They then allowed him to sleep inside the house.

The following morning at about 8:00 a.m., his brother went to check on him and found him motionless.

The matter was immediately reported to the area chief and officers at Mauko Police Post.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying on the floor inside the house.

The deceased was fully clothed and had no visible physical injuries.

The body was moved to Same Day Classmates Funeral Parlour in Sega for preservation pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Elsewhere, police in Kiminini Sub-County, Trans Nzoia County, have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a two-week-old infant whose body was discovered with multiple injuries inside a family home.

According to police, they found the lifeless body of the baby girl lying on the floor.

A preliminary examination of the body revealed severe injuries, including mutilation of the tongue, lips and nose, as well as a depression at the back of the head.

The infant was also found wearing soiled diapers.

Police documented and processed the scene as part of ongoing investigations.

The baby’s mother was arrested and placed in police custody as the prime suspect in the case.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances leading to the infant’s death, and investigators are expected to conduct further forensic examinations to establish the exact cause of death and determine what transpired before the child was found dead.

The case has shocked residents in the area, with detectives continuing their investigations.
