Fear, grief and sadness spread across Bonyakoni village, Masimba town, Kisii County after a woman body in a coffin was left on the road.
The residents said that it is a case that has never been witnessed in the past years. It is alleged that the deceased was brought and abandoned on the road near the first married house.
The incident left the residents speechless saying it is wrong to carry a dead body and leave it alone on the road while you could know the place you suppose to take it.
According to news sources, the woman, whose name could not be identified, was at first married at the compound before she was abandoned and evicted on the grounds that she was unable to bear children.
After the pain suffering in the hands of her in-laws she left, she went and succeeded in remarrying again before she met her death.
Information informs that relatives removed her body from the grave and transported it directly to the village where she was first married and left the body outside the village.
The people who are alleged to be the relatives of the deceased left the body of the diseased on the side of the road leading to the house where she was once locked in.
It is reported that the family later come forward and took her body and they buried her according to their tradition customs of the Omogusii Community.
Many people from Omogusii community condemned the act and said the deceased should not be left like what they did even if she was a bad person during her lifetime.
An Elder from Omogusii, Obino Nyambane who oversees the heritage of community traditions and customs said that, according to their traditions, if a woman was married to her first husband and a dowry was paid and then expelled or abandoned, when she died she will be buried like any other member of the family.
