Angry Voters Protest Against MPs Supporting Finance Bill

In various regions across Kenya, protests against the Finance Bill 2024 continued unabated, with residents demonstrating their discontent through organized actions.

In Njoro, Nakuru County, a group of youths voiced their dissatisfaction with MP Charity Kathambi, who voted in favor of the contentious bill during its recent parliamentary session.

The protesters marched through Njoro town and proceeded over five kilometers to Kwa Right along the Njoro-Mau Narok road, symbolizing their opposition.

Similarly, in Nyali, Mombasa County, residents took their grievances to the office of MP Mohammed Ali, expressing anger over his support for the bill.

Police presence was noted, observing the peaceful demonstration as residents voiced their concerns.

Meanwhile, in Lamu County, the sentiment echoed as dozens of residents gathered in various parts of the town, brandishing placards and chanting slogans against increased taxes and the implications of the Finance Bill.

The demonstrations underscored widespread public discontent with the proposed legislation, highlighting concerns over its potential impact on livelihoods and economic stability.

In neighboring areas such as Molo constituency, the atmosphere remained tense as police questioned four youths for several hours on suspicion of planning further protests scheduled for Tuesday.
