Chiefs Motorbike Used To Block Roads In Narok West Demonstration


Residents of Ngito sub-location in Narok West escalated their demonstrations by seizing a government-issued motorbike belonging to the area’s Assistant Chief and using it to block a major road.

Their actions were fueled by grievances against the Assistant Chief, whom they accuse of misconduct and mistreatment towards the community members.

The residents are demanding the immediate cessation of the Assistant Chief’s official duties, citing various alleged indignities in his work conduct and interactions with the local populace.

Frustrated by what they perceive as lack of accountability and transparency in the local administration, the demonstrators resorted to blocking major roads in the area, causing disruptions to traffic flow and negatively impacting local businesses.

As press received accounts from eyewitnesses, describing the chaotic scene as police from Mulot station intervened to contain the escalating unrest.

The situation grew tense as the demonstrators remained adamant in their demands for justice and accountability.

In response to the mounting pressure, Mulot Assistant County Commissioner James Nderitu addressed the gathered residents in a bid to assuage their concerns.

He assured them that the government would swiftly address the issues raised, urging patience and cooperation while investigations were conducted.

“I am asking you to allow me to work with your local leaders to address all your grievances,” stated Nderitu, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the community and government authorities in resolving disputes and ensuring transparency in local administration.

Furthermore, Nderitu pledged that the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government would launch an investigation into the allegations leveled against the Assistant Chief.

He assured the residents that appropriate actions would be taken based on the findings of the investigation, reaffirming the government’s commitment to upholding accountability and addressing grievances within the community.

As tensions simmered and negotiations continued, the residents remained steadfast in their demands for accountability and transparency in local governance, underscoring the significance of community engagement and dialogue in addressing socio-political challenges.
