Content creator and influencer Tabitha Gatwiri has died from suffocation, according to a postmortem report conducted at Kenyatta University Funeral Home.
The autopsy revealed she succumbed to positional asphyxia with brain edema.
The statement clarified that while a full toxicology report is pending to rule out the possibility of poisoning, the primary cause of death was determined to be positional asphyxia, a condition where an individual’s body position restricts adequate breathing.
This can occur when someone remains in an abnormal position for too long, obstructing the airway and leading to unconsciousness or death.
The report has seemingly resolved questions surrounding the circumstances of her death. Gatwiri lived alone, and burial plans are currently in progress, with her family set to provide further information soon.
Gatwiri’s passing was announced on October 31, and close friends noted on social media that she had fallen ill two days prior but remained in good spirits, as evidenced by text messages shared by industry colleagues.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka expressed his condolences, highlighting her ambition to create positive change and the thought-provoking discussions they shared about the future.
In the days leading up to the discovery of her body, her brother became concerned when he could not reach her. He ultimately went to her home and found her lifeless.
At just 29 years old, Gatwiri was a prominent social media personality with over 120,000 followers on TikTok.
She was also known for her role in The Real House Helps of Kawangware and gained popularity for her comedic skits, including one about her university boyfriend, which went viral.
In previous interviews, she mentioned studying education but stated she had no intention of pursuing a career in that field, having found her passion in content creation.
Gatwiri had also reflected on how her Meru accent developed while making videos.
Fans and fellow Kenyans have taken to social media to mourn her, celebrating her vibrant personality and the joy she brought to many.
