Kisii Central detectives have made a significant arrest after apprehending two individuals with a substantial quantity of explosive materials.
The suspects, Wilfred Chaha Mokami, 28, and Chabere Mwita Mahenda, 49, were intercepted while driving along the Kisii-Oyugis road.
Their vehicle, with registration number KDQ 445R, and trailer, registered as ZH 4943, were flagged down by vigilant officers.
During a detailed search of the vehicle and trailer, law enforcement officials discovered three cartons packed with 459 pieces of water gel explosives (V6) and two detonating cords.
The discovery of these materials has raised serious concerns due to their potential use in illegal activities.
Following the seizure, Mokami and Mahenda have been taken into custody at Mosocho Police Station.
They are currently being held while detectives conduct further investigations into the origins and intended use of the explosives.
The vehicle and trailer, along with the explosive materials, have been confiscated and are being kept as evidence in the ongoing probe.
