Drama As Gold Dealer Is Robbed Of Sh1 Million In Attack In Bondo, Siaya County


A gang waylaid and robbed a man of Sh1 million in an attack along Bondo-Siaya Road in Siaya County.

The victim was with his wife in a salon car headed home when four men armed with an AK47 rifle struck, police said.

The victim deals in gold business in the Kogelo area in Alego. The assailants had concealed the registration numbers of their car when they struck. They had blocked the road about 100 meters from the residence of the man.

The victim said the men had their car’s bonnet open pretending it had mechanical problems.

It was that one of the attackers approached the gold dealer asking for a battery jumper.

When he alighted to help as requested, one of the suspects slapped him as the other gunmen jumped out with rifles and forced him to his house.

The suspects ransacked the house and grabbed Sh677,000 that was in a safe and also took away Sh350,000 that was in the car, police said.

They also grabbed the man’s golden watch and two mobile phones.

They then locked the victim and his wife in his house before escaping in their car.

Police were informed of the incident and rushed there before declaring an investigation had been opened.

Police suspect the men had prior information on the cash.
