A 40-year-old fisherman from Remba Island Beach in Homa Bay County, named Daniel Otieno, tragically drowned while fishing in Lake Victoria about 10 days ago. Thankfully, his body has now been found.
The body of Daniel Otieno was discovered near Migingo Island in Migori County on a Sunday evening by a group of fellow fishermen.
Sadly, Otieno was not alone when the accident happened.
Another fisherman who was with him, whose name is Ochieng, is still missing.
They both encountered this terrible accident during a fishing trip near Migingo Island.
The accident occurred when a ship collided with their boat in Lake Victoria, causing their boat to break into two pieces.
The part of the boat where Otieno and Ochieng were sitting sank into the lake.
On that unfortunate day, the two fishermen had set out from the island with the intention of catching omena, a type of fish.
Currently, the search for Ochieng’s body is still ongoing.
As per tradition, Otieno’s body is being held at the beach until Ochieng’s body is also recovered.
