Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party Leader Raila Odinga says former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was Thursday arrested.
Oparanya was arrested in Kakamega by police who had been trailing him.
He was taken to the local DCI offices for grilling.
He became the second figure to be arrested in the probe into the protests on Wednesday.
The other was Mavoko MP Patrick Makau who was picked from his Karen home and grilled for hours before being released from the DCI in Nairobi Area.
He was told to go back to the same office on Friday, July 14 for further directions. It is not clear what they intend to charge him with if any.
Odinga indicated Oparanya had been arrested in connection with the anti-government protests led by the opposition on Wednesday.
He called out to the government for the arrest of Oparanya, daring security agencies to go ahead and arrest all other Azimio leaders who led the demos.
Oparanya was among the Azimio leaders who were leading the anti-government protests in the Western region.
Meanwhile, Azimio has announced that its anti-government protests will resume countrywide on Wednesday, July 19 next week.
Azimio vowed not to relent in its quest to push the government to lower the cost of living.
Up to 12 people were shot dead by police on Wednesday in various parts of the country during the protests.
