At least four people were killed in separate accidents reported in Migori and Eldoret on Sunday June 30 evening.
Police said seven others were injured in the accidents. They are recuperating in separate hospitals.
The first accident happened along Rongo-Migori road after a matatu rolled into a ditch following a tyre burst.
Police said the matatu was headed for Migori when reaching at Awendo it had a tyre burst.
The driver lost control of the vehicle after it rolled off the road and landed in a ditch.
The driver and a female passenger died on the spot, police said.
Seven other passengers were injured and rushed to hospital as the bodies were moved to the mortuary.
In Ainabtich, Uasin Gishu County, two pedestrians were killed in an accident.
The accident happened Sunday at about 9 pm along Eldoret- Moim road at Kamelil area and involved a matatu.
Police said the matatu was racing from Moim to Eldoret when it hit, fatally two pedestrians who were crossing the road.
The bodies were taken to a local mortuary pending autopsy while the matatu was taken to the police station pending inspection and investigations.
Police say up to 20 people have been killed in separate accidents since Friday June 28. This is an alarming figure amid ongoing campaign to address the menace.
Up to 4,000 people are killed annually in road accidents.
Many others are left with injuries in the incidents that hurt families.
The National Transport and Safety Authority says the leading causes of fatal crashes included hit-and-runs, tyre bursts, and vehicles and motorcycles losing control.
Also overtaking improperly and failing to keep the proper lane resulting in head-on collisions are mentioned as causes.
