Government Launches Free Digital Business Training for Young Entrepreneurs

The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) has launched a free digital business training programme targeting young entrepreneurs seeking to improve their businesses and expand into new markets.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Google Hustle Academy and will focus on practical digital skills, including the use of artificial intelligence and other digital tools.

MSEA said the programme will help entrepreneurs adopt technology to streamline their operations, strengthen marketing strategies, better understand their customers and identify new business opportunities.

Participants will also be trained on how to use AI and digital platforms to work more efficiently, promote their products and services and support business growth.

Young entrepreneurs interested in joining the programme can register through the official application form.

The initiative comes shortly after MSEA cautioned business owners against a fraudulent WhatsApp message claiming that the government was offering free business-name registration to 250,000 micro, small and medium enterprises.

MSEA said the message falsely presented the offer as a partnership between the Business Registration Service (BRS) and the authority.

The agency clarified that it had not authorised the promotion and was not involved in the purported registration exercise. It warned that the link accompanying the message could be used to obtain personal or financial information from unsuspecting business owners.

Entrepreneurs were advised against clicking on the suspicious link or submitting sensitive details such as identification documents, KRA PINs, telephone numbers, M-Pesa information or business records.

MSEA also urged members of the public not to forward the fraudulent message and instead report it.
