The Council of Governors (CoG) has raised serious concerns over the conduct of certain Senate committees, citing what it described as continuous and escalating cases of extortion, political witch-hunts, harassment, intimidation, and humiliation of governors during oversight engagements.
Speaking during the ongoing Governors’ Retreat, the Council said the alleged conduct undermines cooperative governance and threatens the integrity of intergovernmental relations.
As a result, the Council resolved that governors will no longer appear before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) until the concerns are addressed through a structured engagement with Senate leadership.
Additionally, the governors agreed to limit their appearances before the Senate Public Investments Committee to once per audit cycle, a move aimed at promoting orderly, predictable, and effective oversight processes.
The Council emphasized that while governors remain committed to accountability and transparency, oversight mechanisms must be conducted professionally, fairly, and without intimidation.
