Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has joined forces with renowned sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala to showcase Kenya during the upcoming ITB Berlin expo happening from March 5-7, 2024, in Berlin, Germany.
Omanyala’s involvement aims to boost Kenya’s global presence by leveraging his popularity.
His appearance at the Kenyan booth during the event is anticipated to attract more attention, highlighting Kenya’s reputation as a dominant force in global athletics.
The collaboration seeks to create a strong connection between Kenya and its celebrated athletics culture, recognized as one of the most impressive and captivating in the world.
Despite finishing just outside the medals in the 60-meter final at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow, Omanyala’s performance marked Kenya’s best ever in indoor sprints and Africa’s best since 2008.
Looking ahead, Omanyala now focuses on the Olympic Games in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
Expressing his excitement about partnering with KTB, Omanyala stated, “I am honored to team up with the Kenya Tourism Board to showcase the beauty of our beloved country at ITB Berlin 2024.
As a proud Kenyan and athlete, I see the importance of representing my country.
Through this collaboration, I aim to not only promote Kenya as a top travel destination but also encourage others to explore what our nation offers.”
Apart from his presence at the Kenyan booth, Omanyala will actively engage in promotional activities, including interacting with potential visitors, meet-and-greets, and panel discussions.
He will share his experiences, including recent visits to iconic destinations like the Maasai Mara, showcasing Kenya’s diverse attractions to a global audience.
John Chirchir, Kenya Tourism Board’s Ag CEO, commented, “Athletes like Ferdinand Omanyala play a crucial role in showcasing Kenya’s prowess, not only in sports but also in global tourism.
Their achievements resonate worldwide and serve as powerful ambassadors for our country.
We are thrilled to partner with Omanyala and utilize his influence to further enhance Kenya’s profile as a premier travel destination.”
At the Expo, Kenya will be represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife through the Kenya Tourism Board, which has prepared exhibition infrastructure and support for up to 42 travel trade representatives.
