Kitale Traffic Officer Nabbed For Bribery – Sh.3,100 Seized In 2-Hour Sting


In Kitale, a police officer known for accepting bribes along the Kitale-Kapenguria road in Trans Nzoia County was apprehended by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The arrest took place near the Kenya Seed Company area during a sting operation conducted by the North Rift regional office on Thursday.

According to a source within the commission, the officer had gained notoriety for openly and repeatedly accepting money from motorists, prompting numerous complaints from residents.

The EACC detectives, acting on gathered evidence, successfully captured the officer in the act.

During the arrest, the corrupt officer was found in possession of Sh.3,100 in Sh.100 and Sh.50 notes.

This amount was reportedly collected within two hours, from 8 am to 10 am.

Following the apprehension, the anti-graft agency is actively pursuing other police officers in the area who managed to evade the sting operation.

These officers are believed to also pose a threat to motorists traveling along the same route.

The EACC remains committed to addressing corruption within the police force and ensuring accountability for those involved.
