Massive Seizures And Arrests In Battle Against Illicit Brew In Migori


In Migori County, a significant operation targeting illicit brews has resulted in the destruction of over 100,000 liters of illegal alcohol and the apprehension of numerous individuals.

According to a statement from the county commissioner’s office, the crackdown remains ongoing.

County Commissioner David Gitonga emphasized the persistence of efforts to eradicate illicit brews, cautioning those engaged in the illegal trade.

He stated, “The multi-agency team is still combing through villages to eradicate illicit brews from our county.”

Gitonga disclosed that since the commencement of the crackdown, authorities have confiscated more than 1000 kilograms of marijuana.

“In addition,” he noted, “we have seized multiple vehicles and apprehended suspects found in possession of marijuana.”

Encouraging public cooperation, Gitonga appealed to residents to collaborate with law enforcement to maximize the impact of the ongoing operation.

Stressing the detrimental effects of drugs on the youth, he called for a collective effort from all stakeholders to combat the issue and safeguard future generations.

Asserting the unwavering commitment of law enforcement, Gitonga affirmed, “The police will continue the fight against illicit activities without bias, and thus, I urge those involved in such businesses to cease immediately.”
