Massive Traffic Jam On Mombasa Road Due To Overturned Truck

Late on Tuesday night, hundreds of drivers and passengers found themselves stuck on Mombasa Road due to a massive traffic jam.

Police reports indicate that the congestion, which occurred between Manyani and Mtito Andei on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, was caused by a truck overturning and blocking the road.

Images circulating on social media depict stranded passengers sitting along the road, facing a standstill situation.

Eyewitnesses who shared their accounts with Citizen Digital mentioned that there was no movement from 1 am onwards.

They advised fellow travelers to consider alternative routes.

A concerned user on X (formerly Twitter) posted a traffic update, stating, “Traffic update between Mtito Andei and Voi. No movement from 1 am.

Plan accordingly if you are going to Mombasa from Nairobi or vice versa.”

The repercussions of the more than 10-hour traffic jam were extensive, spanning several kilometers and affecting Makueni and Taita Taveta counties.

Authorities are actively working to bring the situation under control, as efforts are underway to manage the aftermath of the overturned truck and clear the road for frustrated commuters.
