Missing Woman’s Body Found In River And Tied With Stone In Nyandarua


Police are investigating an incident in which a 71-year-old woman who had been missing in a village in Nyandarua was found murdered and her body tied to a huge stone.

The body of Lucy Muthoni Niema was found in Kigumo river on June 19 days after she had been reported missing on June 14.

She had been murdered and stashed in a white bag, which also had a big stone.

The stone was meant to stop the body from floating in the river.

According to police, the body had decomposed by the time they arrived at the scene to pick it up at the mortuary.

When she went missing, the family reported the matter prompting the search.

Police said the woman had a visible deep cut on the forehead and right ear.

It is suspected she was murdered elsewhere, stashed in the bag together with the stone, and the body delivered to the river.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

In Mogotio, Baringo County, a primary school teacher was killed in a domestic fight in her house.

The incident happened on June 20 at Tian Primary School.

Neighbors said they heard a commotion from the house of the deceased Leolinda Jeruto Tarus, 35 who is a JSS teacher.

The neighbors said they met with the deceased teacher’s husband at the doorstep escaping while armed with a blood-stained kitchen knife.

In the house, the body of the woman was lying in a pool of blood.

She had stab injuries in the chest and stomach.

The said assailant escaped on foot and police say they are looking for him.

The motive of the macabre attack is yet to be known, police said. The body was later moved to the mortuary.
