Mutilated Body Of Man Found In Kakamega Maize Plantation

The decomposed and mutilated body of a 35-year-old man has been found in a maize plantation in Mumias West, Kakamega County.

The body of Wycliffe Okwayo Mulunda was discovered at Ekhayinga Village on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Police officers visited the scene and found the body in a maize plantation belonging to a local.

The scene was located about 100 metres from the deceased’s home, where he reportedly lived alone.

Investigators established that Mulunda was last seen alive by neighbours on Monday, October 5, at around 6pm.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Butere Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.

Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and how the body ended up in the plantation.

And a 35-year-old man was found dead behind a deserted M-Pesa shop at Obunga Junction in Kisumu County on Thursday morning.

The body was discovered at around 11:30am and reported to Obunga Police Station by a member of the public, identified as Richard Ojal.

Police officers who responded to the scene found the man, identified only as Rass, lying behind the shop with no visible injuries.

Preliminary investigations established that Rass was well known to local residents as a cobbler and had reportedly been sleeping behind the abandoned M-Pesa shop where his body was found.

Police retrieved the body and moved it to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
