Gachagua Pledges Sh1.8m to Clear Late Johana Ng’eno’s Brother’s Hospital Bill

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to help clear a Sh1.8 million hospital bill owed by the family of the late former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno.

Speaking on Friday in Mogondo, Emurua Dikirr, Gachagua claimed that Ng’eno’s family had received little support from the government since the former MP’s death.

He said Ng’eno’s mother had been struggling to cope, while another of her sons was receiving treatment at a hospital in Eldoret with a Sh1.8 million bill.

Gachagua alleged that government officials had failed to assist the family despite earlier assurances that Ng’eno’s mother would not be left to struggle.

He told the family that he and his friends would step in to settle the outstanding medical bill and ensure Ng’eno’s brother received the necessary care.

“I have told Ng’eno’s mother that we will take care of the bill. Together with my friends, we will settle the matter and ensure that her son, who is in hospital, is taken care of,” Gachagua said.

The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader also pledged to construct a mausoleum in honour of the late Ng’eno.

The commitment followed a request from Ng’eno’s mother for assistance in building a permanent memorial at her son’s gravesite.

Gachagua said he had instructed designers to prepare a mausoleum design that would meet the family’s wishes, with construction expected to begin immediately.

“I will help in the construction of a mausoleum in remembrance of my friend Johanna Ng’eno. I have instructed the designers to develop a design that Mama will be comfortable with. Work should commence immediately,” he said.
