A quack doctor who had been in practice for years has been in operation for years was Monday sentenced to 29 years for unlawfully administering drugs to patients at his clinic in 2015 and raping them.

James Mugo Ndichu, alias Wairimu was found guilty of ten counts.

Milimani chief magistrate Wendy Micheni had found that Mugo, 47, who was charged with 12 counts was guilty of 10 counts.
Micheni considered all the mitigation and the seriousness of the offences while sentencing Mugo.
She noted that Mugo was a danger to the society especially women and needed to be kept away.
“I have considered the accused persons need to be back to the society but he endangered the female patients and would administer to them drugs and rape them. He made himself a gynecologist”, the magistrate ruled.
Mugo said In mitigation he was remorseful as he started his career to serve the community and the country but he regrets as he is behind bars.
Mugo is already serving 11 years in jail for operating unlicensed medical facilities.
The court convicted him on operating an illegal medical facility, unlawfully administering drugs to his patients among others.
The magistrate said the prosecution proved its case beyond doubt against him.
He was however, acquitted on charges of raping his patient and unlawfully hiring two students to work with him at his clinic for lack of evidence.
In his defence,  Mugo had asked the magistrate to acquit him for lack of evidence.
He argued that he never met the said woman who alleged that he raped her at his clinic. This is despite there being CCTV footage that captured the drama.
He was caught on camera sedating and raping patients in his clinic in Githurai, Nairobi.
