The National Police Service has initiated inquiries into a disturbing find near Lang’ata Cemetery in Nairobi.
On Thursday, October 31, a male casual worker stumbled upon a horrifically mutilated body while tending to the cemetery.
A police report detailed that the remains, predominantly consisting of bones, were discovered early in the morning and appear to have been discarded by unknown perpetrators.
The report indicated that the bones were wrapped in a plastic bag and appeared to have been boiled, with all flesh meticulously stripped away.
“Officers from the Lang’ata division responded promptly to the scene and confirmed that the remains were human bones, completely devoid of flesh, even including the skull,” stated part of the police report.
Initial investigations suggest the bones might have been transported from another location and unceremoniously left at the cemetery to obscure the actual site of the crime.
The motive behind this gruesome act remains unclear, and no suspects have yet been apprehended.
Authorities in Lang’ata are actively working to identify the victim while probing deeper into the incident.
The disarray left by this discovery has left the local community in shock, with police transporting the remains to the Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation and further examination.
In a related incident, detectives at the Kasarani police station are on the trail of a suspect, George Mutegi, who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death before fleeing the scene.
The victim, identified as Lilian Achieng, was found in a three-bedroom residence at Kahawa West, lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.
Authorities believe Mutegi switched off his mobile phone and went into hiding immediately after committing the crime.
A kitchen knife, presumed to be the weapon used in the murder, has been recovered by investigators, and the victim’s body has been taken to the Kenyatta Memorial Funeral Home as the investigation unfolds.
These two horrifying incidents are part of a troubling trend, with the Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police, Eliud Lagat, revealing that at least 97 women have been separately murdered over the past three months.
This alarming statistic has prompted President William Ruto to demand comprehensive investigations into the rising cases of violence against women, ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
“We have witnessed a distressing surge in brutal killings of our women. The DCI and all relevant investigative bodies must act decisively against these heinous acts,” President Ruto stated.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and cautious of individuals who may pose a threat to women’s safety.
