Safaricom has shared exciting news about acquiring 100% ownership of M-Pesa Holding Company Limited from Vodafone Holdings B.V.
M-Pesa Holding is like a responsible guardian for all the money that people store in the mobile banking system called M-Pesa.
This big decision started taking shape back in April, and now Safaricom has completed the process.
The important people in Safaricom, known as the board of directors, have made sure that they follow all the rules.
They asked the people who own shares in Safaricom and the important people who make sure things are fair (regulators) if it’s okay, and they said yes.
The board of directors of Safaricom, in simple words, the decision-makers, wanted to let everyone know about it.
They said, “The Board of Directors of Safaricom PLC is pleased to notify the public of the completion of the acquisition by Safaricom of the entire issued share capital of M-PESA Holding Co. Limited from Vodafone International Holdings BV.”
M-Pesa Holding will keep doing what it’s good at, which is taking care of the money in the M-Pesa system, even after the whole transfer is done.
