The body, found on 3 May 2022, was initially believed to be that of convicted murderer Thabo Bester.
According to police, DNA tests done in the wake of Bester’s escape and subsequent arrest linked the body with the deceased’s biological mother.

Batho Mpholo confirmed to News24 the family was notified on Friday that the body was that of their son Katlego Bereng.
