The Global Peace Foundation Kenya (GPFK), alongside the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK), the Chandaria Foundation, and other vital partners, is set to host the GPLC Africa conference from June 25th to 27th, 2024.
Scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, the conference aims to advance peace and development throughout the African continent, potentially becoming a landmark event that could steer Africa and the global community towards greater peace and prosperity.
During a preparatory luncheon held at Windsor and hosted by Dr. Manu Chandaria, a distinguished industrialist and co-chair of the conference, the European Union’s Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Henriette Geiger, underscored the event’s timeliness amidst the myriad challenges facing the world, including the climate crisis, youth unemployment, and enduring conflicts.
Dr. Ismail Abdulrahman, the Executive Director of the Interreligious Council of Kenya, emphasized the conference’s transformative potential, envisioning an African Renaissance rooted in the continent’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Dr. Abdulrahman further highlighted the conference’s objectives, which include strengthening African leadership, fostering cross-border partnerships, and promoting ethical global citizenship.
Themed “One Family under God: Empowering African Renaissance as a Global Catalyst for Freedom, Peace, and Sustainable Development,” GPLC Africa 2024 will feature plenary sessions aimed at fostering dialogue and cooperation among participants from diverse sectors and cultural backgrounds.
Moreover, the conference will serve as a platform for the exchange of best practices and the development of pragmatic strategies for achieving peace and sustainable growth.
It will also critically assess existing peace and development models to identify areas for improvement.
Participants expressed a sense of urgency and readiness for proactive measures, acknowledging the need for collaborative initiatives to address the world’s current challenges.
The luncheon brought together influential figures from various sectors, including leaders from faith-based groups, government, civil society, the media, as well as youth and women’s organizations.
The primary objective of the gathering was to synchronize efforts and lay a solid foundation for the success of GPLC Africa 2024.
